Q: I’ve been thinking that we can save some money on our kitchen remodeling project by removing the old cabinets ourselves. But I haven’t the faintest idea of how to do that. Where should I start?
—Teresa Lyons-Cobo, San Pedro, Calif.

Tips

Keep your home warmer by blocking cold air from blowing in around baseboard trim. Vacuum all dirt and dust from the joints between the trim and floor and along the top edge of the baseboard. Then, apply a thin bead of clear silicone sealant along both joints.
