Q&A

Q: I have a gutter that spills over whenever it rains. What can I do to stop it?

—Nancy Cubelli, Unionville, Conn.

Tips

Rigid foam board, such as Styrofoam insulation, is often too thick to cut cleanly with a utility knife. But, you can quickly cut through the thickest foam with an electric carving knife. Start the cut with the blade tilted to 45 degrees, then slowly raise the handle until the blade is cutting straight up and down.
