Impactful Blue Walls and Ceiling
“In this room, we looked at that blue and went all in—that’s how to create impact,” says interior designer Denise Enright. Wrapping the walls with cabinetry not only offers more storage and display, it adds to the enveloping feeling of the space. Using semigloss on the cabinets highlights them as an architectural element; the ceiling’s eggshell finish helps it recede. A window seat provides an extra perch in a room that’s perfect for reading or quiet conversation.

Bright Cubbies as Mudroom Storage Reminders

Shades of Pink in the Girls’ Room
For visual impact, the walls in the girls’ bedroom are painted pale petal pink and the ceiling an intense shade of the same color, both inspired by the bed linens. The “headboard” is a vinyl decal that can be peeled off when it’s time to change the decor.

Color at Play in the Jack-and-Jill Bath
The second-floor Jack-and-Jill bathroom complements the colors of the adjacent bedrooms with elements such as the teal wall-tile accent and the pink shower-curtain banding. The awning-style window pushes out to capture a breeze, but won’t let rain come into the room.

Pink, Playful Bath Vanity
The second-floor Jack-and-Jill bath brings together the color palettes of both adjacent bedrooms. A band of blue tiles on the wall introduces that color as an accent; a flamingo-pink vanity adds an unexpectedly vibrant note. Old and new are combined as well: Milk-glass drawer hardware and a vintage wall cabinet add old-fashioned charm; the sconce and faucet have sleek, modern lines.

Rainbow Shades in the Guest Bedroom
The guest bedroom’s turquoise walls match the pink bedroom’s ceiling in intensity, an intentional choice to balance the second-floor paint palette. The rickrack banding on the bed linens inspired the room’s colorful accents, including the window shade’s ribbon trim and the pouf, as well as those blue walls.
