Since the last visit, significant progress has been made on the 1887 Victorian in Glen Ridge, NJ.
The new porch is reframed and ready for decking. Rough mechanical and electrical installation has begun on the interior, and the third floor is now accessible from a wide straight staircase, replacing the old narrow winding staircase.
Window installation is also underway. Builder Zack Dettmore shares the steps for installing these wood flangeless windows, from rough framing to taping.
Homeowner Jason takes on the job of the home audio system and breaks down the components and the purpose of the new architectural speakers he plans to install.
Meanwhile, Tom Silva and Kevin O’Connor sneak away from the job site to visit the Empire State Building in the Big Apple, where they get a full tour from Observatory Host SioBhan MacShane.
After being spotted by Jenn Nawada and Richard Trethewey, they take a train back to Glen Ridge to lend Zack a hand installing the new porch deck boards.
Inside, plumber Kordian Rak and Richard discuss the hybrid manifold homerun plumbing system chosen for the house.
