We reviewed each company’s plans and selected providers that either included high-end appliances in their baseline coverage or offered protection as add-ons. We also prioritized providers that did not exclude luxury brands from their coverage. We didn’t consider companies that didn’t specify coverage or had exclusions for high-end appliances.
- Appliance coverage caps: Since high-end appliances tend to have higher repair costs, it’s important to select a plan with sufficient coverage limits. We chose home warranty providers that offered up to $3,000 or more for most major appliances. We excluded providers that fell below that threshold.
- Secondary appliance coverage: Many homeowners own secondary high-end appliances that baseline plans may not include, such as wine coolers, secondary freezers, and stand-alone fridges. We made sure to include providers that offered optional add-on coverage for these specialized appliances.
- Our firsthand testing: While customer reviews offer valuable insights into a provider’s reputation, we wanted to take it a step further by testing the services ourselves. Our team signed up for plans with 11 different providers to evaluate key factors such as customer support, the claims process, and the overall user experience. This hands-on approach gave us a better understanding of how each provider operates, allowing us to help consumers choose the best option for their needs.
