With traffic-flow and square-footage constraints in the kitchen of the Newton Generation NEXT house, the clever solution for a pantry was to tuck it into a corner at an angle. Contractor Charlie Silva took on the challenge of maximizing the storage in the space. “We made built-in shelves floor to ceiling and wrapped them around the walls in the pantry,” says Charlie. Just 12 inches deep, the shelves are spaced so taller items can be stacked at floor level.
End result: The little pantry has 56 linear feet of shelving, and we predict it will be one of the homeowners’ favorite spaces.
