Decking and Railings
General contractor Tom Silva, carpenter Nathan Gilbert, builder Deliandro Dias, and finish carpenter Bill Gilbert lead a crew of volunteers to finish the deck. The team is installing decking on the top side of the deck while also cutting and assembling the railing components before installing them between the posts.
Patio
While a crew of volunteers is laying mulch around the freshly planted trees, mason Mark McCullough is leading even more volunteers while they place patio bricks, donated by the Pine Hall Brick Company, over the freshly-compacted stone base. With painter Mauro Henrique chipping in, the crew is able to lay the blocks and edging, as well as lock it into place with polymeric sand.
Electrical
While the patio is being installed, master electrician Heath Eastman gets to work by installing some low-voltage lighting. After running conduit from the house to the patio, he installs a transformer that plugs directly into an existing outlet. Then, he runs low-voltage wiring to the patio to power individual LED lights.
At the patio, home technology expert Ross Trethewey and plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey work together to install the LED lights. After wiring the individual lights, the two work with Heath to heat shrink connections and make them water tight, Then, they install the bulbs that will allow Roz and her friends to enjoy this new space whenever they want.
