What’s Our Take on Aptive Pest Control?

Aptive may be worth considering if you need a customizable plan, as it tailors its plans to each customer’s specific needs. However, readers should be aware that the company is facing lawsuits for aggressive sales tactics and allegedly recording phone calls without customers’ consent.

What Plans and Services Does Aptive Offer?

Aptive offers a single comprehensive service called the Four-Seasons Protection Plan. This approach involves an initial visit followed by quarterly applications once per season. During applications, Aptive uses products that are derived from chrysanthemums, which produce the natural insecticide pyrethrin.

What To Expect with Aptive

The Four-Seasons Protection Plan begins with an initial inspection, where a certified pest specialist will identify risk areas and develop a customized quarterly protection plan. During this visit, Aptive will treat the foundation of your home and your garage, targeting all cracks and crevices. The specialist will also knock down all spider webs and wasp nests.

The full inspection also includes a flushing treatment, killing 70 to 80 percent of the adult pests in your home. According to an Aptive representative, Aptive can’t eliminate eggs during this appointment because there aren’t safe products that can penetrate the eggs. Aptive will return within 30 to 45 days to kill any hatched eggs and surviving pests, then continue to visit every quarter.

During these quarterly visits, Aptive will implement its custom treatment plan and treat your foundation with a power sprayer using a special micro-encapsulated product that doesn’t wash away in the rain. These visits are generally done on the exterior of your home, but Aptive will examine and treat the inside of your home as needed.

If you have any issues between scheduled visits, Aptive will come check out the situation as needed at no extra cost.

The company protects against an extensive number of common household pests, including:

  • Stinging insects
  • Biting insects
  • Pantry pests
  • Aphids
  • Crickets

Unlike its top competitors, Aptive doesn’t offer termite control or bed bug removal services.

How Much Does Aptive Cost?

There are several factors that will determine the cost of your service, including the severity of the infestation, the type of pests you’re dealing with, where you live, and the size of your home.

Since Aptive has only one plan, getting a quote from the company is simple. For a 2,000-square-foot home, the Four-Season Protection Plan would range between $560–$620 annually.

Where is Aptive Available?

Aptive’s limited availability is one of its drawbacks. The company only provides services in the following 24 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.

What Are Some Customer Reviews of Aptive?

Aptive Environmental holds a B+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) but recently lost its accreditation with the organization. Some customers have posted on third-party review sites that their technician was polite and professional, while other reviews mention unwelcome, high-pressure sales tactics. Here’s a sampling of Aptive Environmental reviews:

Brenda H. said on the BBB:

Aptive is a great company with excellent service technicians. My tech was Andrew D******* today. As always, he was polite, efficient, and communicated well before and after the service.

Amy B. said on the BBB:

Steve A**** did an excellent job!!! Explained everything he was doing. Very patient answering my questions (and there were a lot!!). Also very thorough in checking all areas of concern, both inside and outside the house. Very professional and knowledgeable. Thank you, Aptive, for sending Steve to our home!!

Is Aptive Pest Control Worth It?

Aptive may be a good choice if you’re interested in a completely customized plan. However, the company doesn’t address hard-to-treat pests such as termites, bed bugs, mosquitoes, and ticks. It’s also facing lawsuits due to alleged misuse of customer data and aggressive sales tactics.

FAQ About Aptive Environmental

Is Aptive Environmental worth it?

Aptive offers a comprehensive year-round pest control plan to combat all kinds of common household pests. If an Aptive plan falls within your budget and customization is high on your list of pest control priorities, Aptive could be worth it. Keep in mind that the company has less experience than its top competitors.

What does Aptive Environmental use?

Aptive uses organic chrysanthemum-derived products with the lowest level of toxicity possible that contain natural pyrethrin.

Who owns Aptive Environmental?

Aptive is owned by David Royce, founder and chairman of the company. Royce has created and sold three pest control businesses, including Alterra, which he sold to Terminix in 2015.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies inspect for pests, provide multi-pronged treatments to eradicate pests, and prevent future pest infestations. Most pest control companies offer a general pest control plan that covers common household pests like ants, rodents, and wasps, and many companies also offer termite control and bed bug removal services.

Our Rating Methodology

We back up our pest control recommendations with a detailed rating methodology that we use to objectively score each provider. We review pest control plans, navigate the provider website, speak with customer service representatives by phone and online chat (if available), request quotes, and analyze customer reviews for each provider. We then score the provider against our review standards for plans and services, reputation and customer responses, customer service offerings, workmanship guarantees, financing, and availability to arrive at a final score on a 5-point rating scale.
