Jenn Nawada meets tree care expert Matt Chase in the backyard where he explains soil issues threatening the health of the Sugar Maple tree. They use a compressed air tool to aerate the affected area, safely exposing the tree’s roots without digging. Once exposed, they identify and remove the root causing growth issues, then add the necessary nutrients to the soil.
In the basement, Richard Trethewey meets with plumbing and heating expert Kordian Rak, who explains the benefits of the home’s new combination boiler, capable of powering both the radiator heating and water heating systems. Together, they review the new piping system that runs from the basement to the attic and back, including a specialized setup that generates heat beneath the new kitchen floor slab.
Meanwhile, Tom Silva and homeowner Kay’s mother Chitlada use Tom’s template to cut tile perfectly sized for Kay and Peter’s backsplash in their pantry room. Once they measure and cut the tiles they move inside to install the backsplash.
Out back, Kevin O’Connor meets electrician Matthew Sczensy, who has installed a conduit from the house to the backyard and set up a rocket post for the new water feature. Inside, Matthew shows Kevin the plan for the power switch. Instead of rewiring the walls, he offers a simple solution: a wireless light switch.
