The renovation has reached the halfway point. To ensure the project is completed on time, Charlie Silva has divided it into phases. After being stripped down to the studs to make it accessible for a family with a son who is losing his mobility due to Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the house is now fully framed and insulated, windows have been installed, and inspections have started.
Kevin O’Connor gets a lesson on stucco application from Mark McCullough before meeting up with homeowner Michelle and kitchen designer Melinda Guglieta to demonstrate the durable finish chosen for the kitchen cabinets.
Back at the house, Tom Silva begins the vertical installation of the nickel gap and poly ash siding, which is the same material used for the exterior trim.
Out back, Jenn Nawada recaps her design plan for the back patio and addresses the concern of drainage for the bluestone patio with zero-threshold entry to the interior. The solution – is a linear center drain with an integrated pitch system.
