Andersen Windows and Doors has been a popular window company for more than 120 years. It’s headquartered in Minnesota and has 30 locations, 225 patents, and over 20 awards for product excellence, energy efficiency, and company culture.

We recently ranked the best window brands, researching how companies compare on product quality, price, warranty, customer service, and more. See our deep dive into what Andersen has to offer customers below.

What’s Our Review of Andersen Windows?

We gave Andersen Corporation 4.1 out of 5 stars based on our methodology, listed below. We like the company’s well-established reputation, commitment to sustainability, and proven quality given its many awards. We gave points for having certified installers, a high Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating, and customization options.

We deducted points for the company’s above-average pricing and because it doesn’t offer certain common window types. We’re also concerned about the number of negative customer reviews we found that point to customer service issues.

What Are Customer Reviews of Andersen Windows?

Andersen holds an A+ rating* with the BBB. We took a look at what customers have to say about their experience with the company on the BBB site and popular review site Trustpilot. While some homeowners cite observing Andersen as a professional, top-tier company, many others reported poor communication and product performance.

Here’s a snapshot of customers’ feedback.

“The install team took 2 days to finish and they were amazing. Respectful of my property inside and out. Polite, on time and answered any and all questions as annoying as we were throughout the process. If there had been any wood rotted in the walls from water or damage to the siding of the house, Andersen comes prepared with spare siding etc so that they can repair the damage AT NO COST to ensure that their product is installed properly. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire process with this company. HIGHLY highly recommend and I have yet to mention how wonderful and amazing the new windows and doors look.” —Sarah P. via BBB on May 15, 2023

“I have had Renewal by Andersen windows for years. They hold up, look beautiful inside and out. Make my home feel snug and completes the exterior safety and security of my home.” —Joe T. via Trustpilot on April 29, 2021

“The service was awful. From their start date to completion date, it took 4 months. A constant barrage of problems. They told me it would take 1 day to complete and it took them 4 appointments. Something was always broken or missing so they had to go back and reschedule. I had to take 3 extra vacation days to accommodate them.” —D.I. via BBB on February 11, 2023

“During install the crew managed to damage the interior side of my walls at 5 out of 10 of the windows. In addition the 2 largest windows were installed with a gap between the trim and the bottom of the window – so they weren’t even installed straight. Since they could not get anyone out to repair the damage for 2 weeks I chose to fix them myself rather than not be able to use my home. In the process I discovered that they had broken the sheet rock at the bottom of 4 of the windows.” —Craig B. via BBB on May 9, 2022

*BBB rating is accurate as of July 2023.

What Warranty Options Does Andersen Provide?

Andersen’s window warranties vary by product series, which we rarely see. This is an area where we feel Andersen doesn’t offer customers as much as many competitors. Top window companies offer a 20- or 25-year warranty on products and labor. Andersen’s coverage is much shorter in some areas.

Here’s how coverage on most window products breaks down:

20-year glass warranty

This guarantees that your Andersen-made glass is free of manufacturing and workmanship defects for 20 years from the purchase date or the company will provide appropriate replacements or repairs at no cost to the owner.

10-year hardware warranty

The hardware warranty guarantees that Andersen-made hardware components (hinges, locks, handles, screens, weatherstripping, etc.) are free of manufacturing and workmanship defects for 10 years from the purchase date or the company will provide appropriate replacements or repairs at no cost to the owner.

2-year installation warranty

Products installed by an Andersen-certified contractor are guaranteed for two years from the window installation date. The company will repair the product at no cost to the customer if defects occur due to improper installation. The best window companies we’ve seen offer a 25-year labor warranty.

How Much Do Andersen Windows Cost?

We looked at pricing for Andersen windows at Home Depot and saw that most prices ranged from $680–$2,700. Some windows exceed $3,000. Cost is based on window series, type, and customization choices. Andersen doesn’t include pricing on its website, though this is common among providers. You can request a quote through the site or by calling customer support.

Are Andersen Windows Worth It?

Andersen’s many awards prove its reputation in the industry. You can find Andersen locations nationwide or purchase its windows and doors from Home Depot. We like how established the provider is and that many of its products are Energy Star-certified. However, we’re less impressed by its warranty coverage, especially since its labor warranty is significantly shorter than top competitors. We’re also concerned about how many customers reported service issues and product defects.

We recommend calling or visiting your local Andersen showroom to speak with staff and get testimonials and customer references for that location. Before deciding on a window company, review its warranty, reputation, and product selection. We suggest getting an online quote from at least three providers before choosing.
